The top ten commercial vehicle sales in the first half of the year
Beijing, July 10 — According to the latest data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers on Thursday, the automotive industry in China maintained strong growth momentum during the first half of 2024. From January to June, total vehicle production reached 4.4657 million units, while sales amounted to 4.3738 million, marking year-on-year increases of 22.36% and 23.31%, respectively.
Within this period, passenger car production and sales stood at 3.514 million and 3.0841 million units, rising by 20.86% and 22.26% compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, commercial vehicle sales saw even stronger growth, with 1.3053 million units sold and 1.2897 million produced, up by 26.12% and 25.89% year-on-year.
In terms of overall market share, the top ten auto manufacturers by sales were SAIC, FAW, Dongfeng, Changan, BAIC, GAC, Chery, Brilliance, Geely, and Hafei. Except for a slight decline in Hafei, all other companies experienced growth, with Guangzhou Auto, Chery, and Brilliance showing particularly strong performance. Together, these ten companies accounted for 82.88% of the total automobile sales in the first half of the year.
Looking specifically at passenger cars, the top ten sellers included SAIC-GM-Wuling, Shanghai Volkswagen, FAW-Volkswagen, Shanghai GM, Chery, Changan, Guangzhou Honda, Dongfeng Nissan, Beijing Hyundai, and FAW Toyota. These companies sold 1.7874 million units, representing 57.96% of the total passenger car market.
For commercial vehicles, the leading brands were Beiqi Foton, Dongfeng, FAW, JAC, Jinbei, CNHTC, Changan, Jiangling, Nanqi, and Shaanxi Auto. These companies collectively sold 865,500 units, making up 67.26% of the commercial vehicle market during the first six months of the year.
