Tri-screw extruder successfully researched and put into market operation

The company’s representative shared insights into two groundbreaking developments: the "inverted-type three-screw extruder" and the "three-dimensional parametric quantized screw barrel design software." The former was developed specifically for Zhoushan Jingjin Plastic Machinery Co., Ltd. and is designed as a universal tool for all screw barrel manufacturers. Both projects are nearing completion, with significant progress already made.
The inverted-type three-screw extruder represents a major technological breakthrough in the field of extrusion. Unlike traditional extruders that typically use one or two screws, this three-screw model offers superior plasticization, more even mixing, and higher extrusion efficiency. This innovation has been recognized nationally and was included in a provincial research project back in 2005. It fills a gap in the domestic market and is expected to significantly enhance product quality and technical standards.
On April 27th, Jingjin showcased a prototype at the national plastics industry trade fair in Shanghai, drawing considerable attention from industry professionals. Several customers from Taizhou and Zhuji even traveled to the factory after the event to explore potential collaborations. Currently, the trial runs of the machines have been completed, and the final improvements are being finalized. Technical appraisals are scheduled for the second half of the year.
In terms of design, the screw barrel has entered the digital age. However, most manufacturers still rely on outdated 2D design software, which lacks visual appeal and fails to fully capture the complexity of the product. Last year, Zhoushan North Chemical identified this issue through market research and initiated a technological development project. According to the company’s representative, the new software offers enhanced features such as material compatibility, expansion and contraction analysis, and precise control over thread gaps. Its three-dimensional visualization is particularly impressive, offering a much better user experience.
Zhoushan North Chemical has already completed the overall structure and interface design of the software, along with parameter input for different types of screw barrels and the development of part drawing templates. In the second half of the year, the focus will be on integrating and optimizing the software modules, as well as selecting several demonstration companies to promote its adoption.
Since its establishment, Zhoushan North Chemical has recruited 13 senior professionals, including professors, associate professors, and senior engineers, many of whom have been actively involved in research and development within the region. Over the past two years, the company has established multiple research labs focused on extruded plastics, precision extrusion, and advanced control technologies. It has also built pilot plants, technical consulting departments, and training centers. The company has participated in 3 provincial, 5 municipal, and 6 regional-level research projects, many of which have been successfully converted into productive assets.
