Liuzhou's three key technological transformation projects have started to invest nearly RMB 1 billion in total
In May, the city of Liuzhou basked in sunny weather and a vibrant atmosphere. On the afternoon of the previous day, the company made a significant investment of 3 billion yuan into three key technical transformation projects in the city: the new heavy truck body welding and assembly line project at Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile, the upgrade of loader core manufacturing capacity by Liugong Group, and the expansion of automobile brake and axle modules by Wuling Group. These projects held grand opening ceremonies, marking a new chapter for the Liuzhou industry and outlining an ambitious blueprint for future growth.
The groundbreaking ceremony was filled with energy as flags waved and leaders from Liuzhou City, including Jiang Jixiong, Chen Xiangqun, Yin Yi, Yan Hongquan, Zheng Junkang, and Mei Hao, participated in cutting ribbons and laying the foundation for these transformative projects.
Dongfeng Liuzhou’s New Heavy Truck Body Welding Line Project is a major step forward for the company. The new heavy-duty truck body incorporates advanced international cab technology and vibration damping support systems, significantly improving driver comfort and meeting diverse market demands. This will enhance the competitiveness of Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile's products. The project is highly automated and mechanized, with an investment of 350 million yuan. The first production line is expected to be commissioned in August and fully operational by November.
Party Secretary Jiang Jixiong emphasized that as an industrial city in Guangxi, Liuzhou must seize new development opportunities, strengthen technological innovation, and boost independent research capabilities. By introducing high-quality products, the city can further expand and reinforce its key industries, contributing to sustained economic growth.
Liugong Group’s loader core manufacturing capacity upgrade aims to improve product quality, reliability, and export competitiveness while promoting energy efficiency. The project involves expanding facilities, adding advanced finishing equipment, and investing approximately 330 million yuan. With a target completion date in 2008, this initiative supports the group’s goal of achieving 15 billion yuan in sales revenue by 2010. The city leaders praised the effort, highlighting the importance of fostering long-term innovation and building strong brand value through technology, talent, and collaboration.
Wuling Group’s braking and axle module expansion project, part of its partnership with SAIC-GM-Wuling, involves an investment of about 230 million yuan during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period. This project will add 38 new production lines and increase annual production capacity to 800,000 sets of brake and axle modules, generating nearly 700 million yuan in sales annually. At the foundation-laying ceremony, Mayor Chen Xiangqun expressed support, encouraging companies to extend their industrial chains and foster competitive clusters. He emphasized the need to promote specialization among SMEs and strengthen cooperation between large enterprises and smaller suppliers, driving industrial agglomeration and sustainable development.
