Liuzhou's three key technological transformation projects have started to invest nearly RMB 1 billion in total

In May, the city of Liuzhou basked in bright sunshine and a vibrant atmosphere. On the afternoon of the previous day, the city witnessed a major investment of 3 billion yuan into three key technical transformation projects—Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile’s new heavy truck body welding and assembly line project, Liugong Group’s upgrade of loader core manufacturing capacity, and Wuling Group’s automobile braking and axle module expansion. These projects marked a significant milestone for the city's industrial development, with grand opening ceremonies held to unveil a new blueprint for growth and write a bold chapter in Liuzhou’s economic story. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by several city leaders, including Jiang Jixiong, Chen Xiangqun, Yin Yi, Yan Hongquan, Zheng Junkang, and Mei Hao, who jointly cut the ribbons and laid the foundation for these transformative initiatives. Their presence underscored the importance of these projects in driving technological progress and economic revitalization in the region. The Dongfeng Liuzhou New Heavy Truck Body Welding Line Project is set to revolutionize the company’s production capabilities. The new heavy-duty truck body integrates advanced international cab technology and vibration damping support systems, significantly enhancing driver comfort and meeting diverse market demands. With an investment of 350 million yuan, the first production line is scheduled to be commissioned in August and fully operational by November. This project will not only boost production efficiency but also elevate the competitiveness of Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile’s products on both domestic and global markets. Party Secretary Jiang Jixiong emphasized that as an industrial hub in Guangxi, Liuzhou must seize new opportunities by fostering technological innovation and strengthening its independent research capabilities. He called for the continuous introduction of high-quality products to reinforce the city’s pillar industries and contribute to sustained economic growth. Meanwhile, the Liugong Group’s loader core manufacturing capacity upgrade aims to enhance product quality, reliability, and export potential while promoting energy efficiency and resource conservation. The project involves expanding facilities, adding advanced production lines, and equipping the plant with state-of-the-art machinery. With a total investment of 330 million yuan, the main project is expected to be completed by 2008. This initiative is a key component of the group’s strategy to achieve a sales revenue target of 15 billion yuan by 2010. Jiang Jixiong also highlighted the need for enterprises to embrace a scientific development approach, focusing on new industrialization paths and transitioning from “manufacturing in Liuzhou” to “innovation in Liuzhou.” He stressed the importance of building long-term mechanisms for independent innovation, leveraging technology transfer, talent recruitment, and joint R&D to develop proprietary technologies and enhance corporate competitiveness. The Wuling Group’s braking and axle module expansion project, part of its collaboration with SAIC-GM-Wuling, involves an investment of 230 million yuan over the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period. This initiative aims to build a world-class auto parts production base, increasing the company’s production capacity and supporting a wide range of brake and axle modules. Once completed, the project will generate nearly 700 million yuan in annual sales revenue and add 38 new production lines. At the foundation-laying ceremony, Mayor Chen Xiangqun expressed strong government support, emphasizing the need to strengthen industry chains, promote specialized and innovative SMEs, and foster collaboration between large enterprises and smaller suppliers. His vision is to create a dynamic industrial ecosystem where large and small businesses thrive together, driving regional economic growth through industrial clustering and specialization.
