The world's largest "colorful exhibition" opened in Shanghai
The three-day China International Dyestuff Industry and Organic Pigments & Textile Chemicals Exhibition kicked off on April 12th in Shanghai, drawing global attention with its impressive display of innovation and industry progress. Over 300 renowned chemical companies from 15 countries and regions showcased their latest products and cutting-edge technologies across a spacious 18,000-square-meter exhibition hall.
This year’s event provided valuable insights into the current state and future direction of the industry. It was revealed that China has maintained a healthy and rapid growth in the production and development of dyes, auxiliaries, and organic pigments. The demand for dye chemicals continues to rise steadily, solidifying China's position as a global leader in the production, consumption, and trade of these essential materials.
In 2005, China produced a total of 797,000 tons of dyes and organic pigments, marking a 7.4% increase compared to the previous year. This growth not only met domestic textile needs but also significantly boosted exports. The total volume of dyestuffs imported and exported reached 295.9 thousand tons, up by 1.61%, while organic pigments saw an even stronger increase of 5.12% to 145,900 tons.
As the largest consumer of dyestuff products, China’s textile industry has benefited greatly from the introduction of high-tech dyes, which have driven advancements in the printing and dyeing sector. In 2005, the country produced 36.215 billion meters of printed and dyed fabric, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 15.69%. Meanwhile, the total import and export value of the six major categories of printed and dyed products reached $12.03 billion.
Notably, the number of overseas pavilions at this year’s exhibition increased by 20% compared to the previous session, with an expanded exhibition area of approximately 7,000 square meters. This reflects growing international interest and participation in China’s dynamic and evolving dyestuff industry.
