The world's largest "colorful exhibition" opened in Shanghai
The three-day China International Dyestuff Industry and Organic Pigments & Textile Chemicals Exhibition kicked off on April 12th in Shanghai, drawing attention from industry professionals and global players. Over 300 renowned chemical companies from 15 countries and regions showcased their latest innovations and cutting-edge technologies across a spacious 18,000-square-meter exhibition hall.
This year’s event highlighted the rapid and sustainable growth of the dye and pigment industry in China. According to the latest reports, the production and development of dyes, auxiliaries, and organic pigments have been thriving, with increasing demand for dye chemicals each year. China has solidified its position as a global leader in the production, consumption, and trade of these essential materials.
In 2005, China produced a total of 797,000 tons of dyes and organic pigments, marking a 7.4% rise compared to the previous year. This growth not only met domestic textile needs but also boosted exports significantly. The total volume of imported and exported dyes reached 295.9 thousand tons, up 1.61% from 2004, while organic pigments saw an even stronger increase of 5.12%, reaching 145,900 tons.
As the largest consumer of dyestuffs, China’s textile industry has benefited greatly from the development of high-tech dye products. In 2005, the country produced 36.215 billion meters of printed and dyed fabric, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 15.69%. Meanwhile, the total import and export value of six major categories of printed and dyed products hit $12.03 billion, showcasing the sector's robust performance.
The exhibition also saw a notable expansion, with overseas pavilions increasing by 20% compared to the previous session, covering approximately 7,000 square meters. This growth underscores the rising international interest in China’s dynamic and influential dyestuff market.
