Dynapac launches asphalt double layer paver
In order to address common issues in asphalt pavements such as cracks, deformation, and aggregate loss, Dynapac has introduced an innovative approach to asphalt pavement construction: the composite asphalt mixture surface layer. This concept is embodied in the double paver, a groundbreaking machine designed to enhance performance and efficiency. Instead of the traditional 4cm surface layer, this system uses two layers of different asphalt mixtures, each only 2cm thick, applied in a single pass.
This new paver is truly a composite solution, integrating the structural and technical components of both an upper and lower paver, along with its own power supply system. One key feature is the replacement of the conventional scraper conveyor with a screw conveyor, which transfers the material from the elevated upper hopper directly to the paving section. The screw conveyor is mounted on a trailer-style frame that retracts as the paver moves forward, ensuring smooth operation.
By simultaneously laying two layers of asphalt with varying compositions, the system creates a thicker, more durable asphalt laminate. This design allows for slower cooling, making use of the residual heat from the lower layer to improve compaction and adhesion. This not only enhances the quality of the pavement but also reduces energy consumption and improves overall construction efficiency.
