On June 26, 2006, the JQ140G bridge erector, independently developed and manufactured by Wuhan China Railway Engineering Machinery Plant under China Railway Engineering Corporation, successfully passed the scientific and technological achievement review organized by the headquarters. This milestone marked a significant breakthrough in domestic plateau bridge construction technology, achieving a leading level within the country. The evaluation panel comprised senior researchers and professors specializing in engineering machinery, railway construction, locomotives, and structural engineering. They thoroughly reviewed the general research report, design documentation, and scientific assessment report on the durable beam transport equipment for the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. They also examined live video footage of the bridge construction process using the JQ140G system and consulted relevant technical data. After detailed discussions and evaluations, the experts concluded that the JQ140G bridge erector was specifically designed for the unique challenges of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. The technical documents submitted were complete, the data accurate, and the research outcomes comprehensive, fully meeting the assessment criteria. As a result, the "Opinions on the Development and Evaluation of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway JQ140G Bridge Erection Machine" was unanimously approved.
The JQ140G bridge erector was tailored for the extreme conditions of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It features plateau-specific cold-air diesel engines, dual-pump air supply systems, large-capacity air cylinders, aviation-grade hydraulic oil, and heating devices to ensure reliable performance in high-altitude, low-temperature environments. Its structural design is both rational and compact, offering stable and dependable operation. The machine meets the demanding requirements for constructing durable girders along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. The lifting mechanism incorporates an independently developed automatic rope winding system, filling a gap in domestic railway bridge erection technology. The JQ140G played a crucial role in the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, with a total of 2,116 beam holes completed. Among them, 140 holes involved a 20-inch continuous 23-inch-long safety frame beam, setting a national record. It also achieved notable milestones, including the installation of 12 32-meter beams and 13 24-meter beams in a single day. These accomplishments highlight the machine's efficiency, precision, and adaptability in one of the most challenging engineering environments in the world.
