This effort will see investments directed from eastern and southern provinces into the central region.
According to information obtained from the Wuhan Bureau of Foreign Economic Relations and Development yesterday, after the release of the "Several Opinions of the State Council on Promoting the Rise of the Central Region," officials from the Ministry of Commerce conducted a detailed analysis of the policy's implications.
Various departments within the Ministry of Commerce have expressed their support for Wuhan’s leading role in regional development. They proposed that the Wuhan Motor Expo should be developed into a well-known brand with distinctive characteristics. Additionally, a licensing ceremony is planned, and efforts are underway to transform the Wuhan Export Processing Zone into a bonded logistics park.
It has been reported that the Ministry of Commerce intends to promote 10,000 overseas and eastern enterprises to invest in the six central provinces this year. Currently, the General Affairs Department of the Ministry is working on a plan titled “Promoting the Advancement of Thousands of Merchants in the West.†For instance, for foreign investment projects, if banks provide loans, the Ministry of Commerce will offer interest rate discounts. For processing trade projects relocating from coastal areas to central China, the department will provide technical support and incentives.
In addition, the Ministry of Commerce plans to increase its investment in logistics infrastructure in central China. It aims to allocate 2 to 3 billion yuan to support the development of transportation hubs in the capitals of the six central provinces and to build 10 new logistics parks.
Over the next three years, the Ministry of Commerce will also focus on human resource development by training 10,000 business managers and 100,000 senior technicians and migrant workers in the central region. These efforts aim to provide high-quality talent for the "Million Businessmen Westward" initiative, which is expected to drive economic growth and development in the central provinces.
