Working fire in Park Ridge, 12-13-14

This is from Steve Redick:

Arrived at the scene early Saturday evening. The smoke conditions were decent as I was driving down the street, but it had already cleared by the time I got into position. I believe this was an attic fire that was brought under control using a large exterior line. Two additional crosslays were also deployed. It was interesting to see the truck, which is a quint, operating as an engine and supplying all the lines. I'm guessing they might have been the first on scene or perhaps they had an engine out for some reason. I've always enjoyed capturing shots like this. From where I was standing, there wasn't much to see, but it sounds like this was a solid response.

I took these photos from a safe distance, just watching the action unfold. It's always fascinating to see how quickly firefighters can respond and get things under control. The E-One tower ladder was especially impressive in action, providing a great vantage point. I’ve been following fire scenes for years, and every incident has something unique to offer. Whether it's the way crews work together or the equipment they use, there's always something to learn. This one wasn’t too bad — not too many people around, so I could get good shots without getting too close. Definitely a solid call-out.
