Domestic tire companies protest U.S. special protection

It is reported that representatives of 11 tire companies recently participated in the China Rubber Industry Association in Beijing held a consultation meeting on the special case of tire protection in the United States. At the meeting, regarding the remedial measures proposed by the US International Trade Commission for the tire special security case, the domestic tire companies made solemn protests and expressed their firm opposition to the formulation of special tariffs by the United States. Enterprises and associations strongly urge the Chinese government to take more reasonable and effective measures to prevent the U.S. International Trade Commission’s unreasonable proposal from being approved by the U.S. government. At the same time, the U.S. government strongly urges the U.S. government to fully consider the actual situation of the case and not rashly adjudicate.

According to reports, the US International Trade Commission made a definitive ruling on June 18, ruling that Chinese passenger car and light truck tires disrupted the U.S. market. On June 29th, it recommended that President Obama implement an additional three-year tariff on imported Chinese tires (China's passenger-to-subsequent passenger and light truck tires will impose special ad valorem tariffs of 55%, 45%, and 35% for three consecutive years). On July 9th, he submitted a written report to the President of the United States and the U.S. Trade Representative on the investigation and remedial measures for China’s tire special protection. In mid-September, the U.S. government will make a ruling on this proposal.

Tire business representatives said that once the proposal is approved by the U.S. government, not only will a number of U.S. trade protection measures be introduced, but it will also lead other WTO members to follow suit. China's tire exports will face unprecedented difficulties. A number of tire companies suggested that the Chinese government adopt the necessary diplomatic means to demonstrate the attitude of the Chinese government and the industry and to find a way for the long-term development of Chinese tire companies.

Fan Rende, president of the China Rubber Industry Association, said that in the first half of this year, China's tire exports have fallen by a large margin, with a decrease of 26-29% in January-April and 16% in May-June. The export situation is not optimistic. The Chinese government is pursuing its interests in a rational and well-balanced manner. The tire companies and the China Rubber Industry Association will use various channels and methods to indicate to the U.S. government the stance and attitude of Chinese companies and firmly oppose the U.S. measures to restrict my tire products.

Mr. Yue Chunchen, General Manager of Shuangqin Shares, Mr. Ma Shichun, Chairman of Yantai Tire A, and Cao Chaoyang, Chairman of Aeolus Co., Ltd. all stated that the special protection of my consumption tires by the United States is a major issue related to the survival of the tire industry. Cao Chaoyang believes that tire protection will further worsen the international trade environment and will inevitably bring a huge impact on domestic tire trade. This will not only affect exports, but will also increase domestic tire sales competition.

“This year, the main economic indicators of China’s tire industry have fallen at a double-digit rate compared to the same period of last year. One-third of the companies suffered losses. When the global economic recession began, the United States filed an investigation on special tires for US-made consumer tires. Once the initial quota reduction is implemented, the The program, China's tire exports will decline by about 12%, so that the rubber industry's growth rate fell by 5 to 6 percentage points." Fan Rende said. He said that if the new tariff collection scheme is adopted, tire exports will be severely hampered, tires and related industries will be fully hit, and the growth rate of the rubber industry will fall by 8 to 10 percentage points. This year, negative growth may occur, which seriously hampers the domestic tire industry. Healthy development
