Orland FPD to remodel Station 2
The Orland Fire Protection District is set to begin a major renovation of Station #2. This project marks a significant step forward in modernizing the facility to better serve the community and meet current safety standards.
Station 2, located at 151st and 80th Avenue, was originally constructed in 1980 as a small station designed for volunteer firefighters and POC (Part-Time On-Call) personnel. At the time, it had just one bay, along with an office, kitchen, and day area—intended more for part-time use rather than full-time operations. Over the years, as the demand for emergency services grew, the station underwent several modifications to support overnight stays and 24-hour availability. Additional bays were added, and the kitchen and common areas were expanded to accommodate the evolving needs of the department.
However, due to the numerous additions and reconfigurations over the decades, bringing the station up to current building codes would only be a temporary fix. To ensure long-term functionality and safety, the Orland Fire Protection District Board of Trustees approved a complete and comprehensive renovation during their meeting in June 2013.
The construction is now scheduled to start this fall and is expected to take approximately eight weeks. The new design will provide a more efficient layout, improved living spaces, and updated equipment to better support the firefighters who serve the community.
