ERNI introduces new high current capacity single row cable connection system

ERNI introduces a new single-row cable connector system with a standard 2.54 mm pitch that provides space for flexible connection between the cable and the printed circuit board. The main application areas of the MaxiBridge connector are various sensors, actuators and power supplies, as well as data applications in automotive, industrial electronics, computer technology, consumer electronics or medical engineering. This compact new miniature connector delivers 7.6 amps of current carrying capacity (when the ambient temperature is 20 degrees Celsius and the upper temperature is 125 degrees Celsius). This cable connector system features vertical and angled male connectors and a 180 degree cable outlet for the vertical female connector, making it suitable for a wide range of space requirements. Based on a temperature range extending from -55 to +125 degrees Celsius, MaxiBridge is also suitable for demanding applications such as automotive electronics. In addition, the 2, 3, 5 and 8 needle configurations meet the increasing demand for fewer needles.

The metal brackets on the vertical and angled surfaces of the male connector ensure high retention and stress relief. Both types of latches (primary and secondary latches) meet the highest requirements to withstand vibration or shock loads and absorb high tension from the cable. The male/female connector's latch can be easily opened without the use of a tool. The connector has a total of up to 4 codes: different colors mean mechanical differences. The pins of the male connector are surface-mounted; the female connector uses the clamping/grinding technology. The female connector is designed to use AWG 22, 20 and 18 loose or stranded cables. The user can also select some terminal loads. To ensure reliable machining, MaxiBridge components are partially gold plated on the terminal surface, fully plated terminals, reliable double-bar spring contacts, soldered brackets, and minimum contact force. By using standard tools, the cable can be easily clipped/milled to the upper terminal. The lubricated and locked cable head prevents corrosion caused by local micro-shifts caused by vibration or thermal expansion and contraction of the contact terminals.
