Chicago Still & Box Alarm fire 2-17-13
I apologize for the delay in sending the photos, but I managed to capture the collapse of the Still & Box building at 9160 S. Green around 0900 hours. I was on my way home from my shift when I saw the fire. The main fire was in the rear of a large truss roof structure. I arrived just as the first water was being applied. The best view of the flames came from the west side of Vincennes Street, but unfortunately, I didn’t have my DSLR with me. There was also a chain-link fence and a significant setback between the street and the building, making it difficult to get a clear shot. The initial responding units had some trouble getting water on the fire, but once they did, the blaze was quickly brought under control.
