WABCO Jinan Base officially put into production market to accept AMT time

WABCO China cooperation is accelerating

Previously, WABCO already owned two companies in China, Jinan and Qingdao, to produce commercial vehicle brake and control system products. According to Yu Sujie, general manager of WABCO China, “there are more than 1.4 million AMT control systems on trucks and buses worldwide. This is a more optimistic outlook for the Chinese market.”

At the end of 2008, WABCO announced that it has signed a letter of intent with Guangdong Fuhua Construction Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. to form a joint venture to produce gas brake disc brakes in China. WABCO and Fuhua each own 70% and 30 joint ventures. % of equity, investing 8 million US dollars. Fuhua is currently the world's largest manufacturer of commercial trailer axles.

In March 2009, WABCO announced that it has signed a strategic supply agreement with China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd., China's largest heavy-duty truck manufacturer. The strategic agreement between WABCO and China National Heavy Duty Truck (000951) will be extended to 2016, with cumulative sales reaching hundreds of millions of dollars.

It is understood that WABCO has become a supplier of China National Heavy Duty Truck in 1997, and it will continue to supply air management products, anti-lock braking devices and other braking systems as well as transmission control systems. The agreement further enhances cooperation between the two parties. Before 2016, WABCO will be the sole supplier of China National Heavy Duty Truck Automatic Transmission (AMT) system. China National Heavy Duty Truck is the world's first original equipment manufacturer to use WABCO's advanced modular AMT system in batches. The development of AMT in China is also being accepted and recognized by users, but this process has to continue.

It takes time for the market to accept AMT

“AMT is undergoing a process of slowly climbing. We have visited many end users personally. They think that AMT fuel saving is a bright spot. The operation is also very comfortable, which is also the most direct feeling of users.” General Manager of WABCO China Yu Sujie said that in the European market, for example, since the first AMT heavy truck was put into use in 1986, the loading rate of ATM has reached more than 50%. After more than 20 years, it cannot be expected in China overnight. Achieving a high loading rate requires a certain process. AMT should be used in conjunction with an electronically controlled engine, and the matching of AMT with the engine and the entire vehicle requires a lot of experimentation. It should be said that R&D and matching time will also limit the rapid increase of loading rate, but the development direction is very clear.

“There was a European organization that did a series of comparative experiments, because AMT has different modes depending on the working conditions, there are P mode, E mode, and climbing mode. The usage mode is different, and the fuel economy effect is different. On average, 3% fuel economy is no problem. The outstanding fuel economy is the advantage of WABCO AMT." Yu Sujie said.
