Oak Park firefighters responded to a residential fire this morning at 1110 Taylor Street. A neighbor reported seeing smoke coming from the roof, prompting an immediate response. Upon arrival, crews found a one-and-a-half story brick bungalow with visible smoke emanating from the rear of the second floor. The fire was contained to a single room, but it had spread into the attic and eaves. A single hose line was deployed, with a backup line pulled but not charged, indicating a controlled situation. Tim Olk arrived on scene after the fire had been fully extinguished and captured several photos documenting the aftermath. His images show firefighters standing by in the rear of the home, as well as the use of ground ladders for roof access. One firefighter from Ambulance 613 was seen exiting the building following overhaul operations, while Engine 602 remained on scene with lines off, serving as the still alarm unit.
