Japan launches new energy-saving ship “SK-Bow”

Japan's New Island Dock Company and Hiroshima University have jointly launched a new type of "SK-Bow (Shin-kurushimaKnuckled-shapeBow)" new energy-saving ship raft to reduce the wave resistance of the ship during navigation.

According to the latest theory, this new type of bow is optimized for the ship line above the waterline, and it can be confirmed by the tank test to reduce the wave resistance by 30%, so that the ship can sail greatly in the rough seas. Reduce fuel costs and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Japan’s New Island Dockyard Company plans to first use this type of ship for medium-sized bulk carriers.
