Hexahedron parts planing

The regular hexahedral parts require the opposite side to be parallel and also require that the adjacent faces be at right angles. Such parts can be milled or planed. Planing hexahedron generally adopts the processing program shown in FIG.

Processing program:

The first step is generally to plan the large surface 1 as a fine base surface (Figure 2a).

The second step is to fasten the processed large surface 1 as a reference surface to the fixed jaw. A round bar is clamped in the middle between the movable jaw and the workpiece and then the adjacent face 2 is machined (Fig. 2b). The perpendicularity of the face 2 opposite the face 1 depends on the perpendicularity between the fixed jaw and the horizontal pass. A round bar is inserted between the movable jaw and the workpiece in order to concentrate the clamping force in the middle of the jaw so as to facilitate the reliable contact between the face 1 and the fixed jaw.

In the third step, the processed face 2 is turned downward, and in the same manner as described above, the base 1 is brought into close contact with the fixed jaw. When clamping, the surface 4 can be machined by gently tapping the workpiece with the hand hammer so that the surface 2 is pressed against the flat pliers (Fig. 2c).

The fourth step is to process the surface 3, as (Fig. 2d). Place face 1 on a parallel horn and the workpiece is clamped directly between the two jaws. During the clamping, it is required that the hammer be tapped gently to make the face 1 and the horn stick.

Measures to ensure the accuracy of hexahedron planing:

(1) Check the accuracy of the pliers itself (Figure 3) and install it on the bench.

Fig. 3 Pliers accuracy check

(2) When the processing requirements are high, the rough and fine planer should be separated. Roughly shave all four sides, leaving 0.5mm or so of finer stock on each side. Planing knife with fine planer.

(3) Correct selection of the machining standard With a relatively flat and large rough surface as the rough reference, a flat plane is machined, such as plane 1 in (Fig. 2a). Subsequent machining uses this plane as a reference for mounting and measurement.

(4) The already processed plane 1 is tightly fixed to the jaws, and is clamped with a round bar between the movable part and the workpiece, and the adjoining plane 2 (see Figure 2b).

(5) Place the machined flat surface 2 of the workpiece against the bottom surface of the jaws, and press the datum plane 1 against the fixed jaw according to the same clamping method as above, and plan the plane 4 (see Figure 2c).

(6) Assemble the workpiece as shown in (Fig. 2d), planing plane 3.

(7) The planing of the other two faces of the hexahedron is also carried out by fixing the jaws with the flat face 1 and mounting them in the same way.
