This is from John Tulipano: St. Charles Engine 103 and Brush 101 were sent to 4000 W. Lincoln Highway (Route 38) in response to a potential brush fire. As they were en route, Engine 103 spotted a header in the sky. Upon arrival, they confirmed that around 10 acres of brush were burning and spreading quickly to the west. Chief 112 arrived on scene and requested additional brush trucks from Batavia and Geneva. Elburn's chief also showed up and asked for two brush trucks and a tanker from their own department. Grass fire 4-7-14, Fox River & Countryside FRD
Fox River and Countryside (FRC) was dispatched by Kane County. At the time, they were already dealing with two other fires at the far northeast end of their district. Eventually, they arrived with both of their engines, a tanker, and two brush trucks.
When FRC arrived, they took control of the western side of the fire to protect nearby structures, including a large barn, a house, and several outbuildings. Their tanker played a key role in refilling Elburn, St. Charles, and their own brush units multiple times, helping bring the fire under control. It turned out the fire was actually within FRC’s jurisdiction, located at 39W962 Route 38.
