Global LED light source replacement tide hits incandescent lamps facing elimination

On January 1 this year, the best-selling 40-watt and 60-watt incandescent lamps in the US market stopped selling. At the same time, in Asia, South Korea, Thailand, and the Philippines have also taken measures to promote the use of energy-saving light bulbs instead of incandescent light bulbs. As countries begin to completely ban incandescent lamps, the replacement of light sources will be fully opened in 2014, and LED lamps are expected to gradually occupy the lighting market.
The US official and incandescent lights are based on the 2007 US Energy Independence and Security Act. Since January 1, 2014, the best-selling 40-watt and 60-watt incandescent lamps in the US market have stopped selling.
After the elimination of incandescent lamps, the United States encourages the use of energy-efficient compact fluorescent lamps, LED lamps and other bulbs with higher energy efficiency. Analysts believe that LED bulbs are more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly than other energy-saving lamps, so LEDs will have a broad market space for replacing incandescent lamps. In a research article, CIC consultant pointed out that the elimination of incandescent lamps, the LED lamp market has unlimited prospects.
In Asia, South Korea, Thailand, and the Philippines have also taken measures to promote the use of energy-saving light bulbs instead of incandescent light bulbs. With the above-mentioned countries beginning to completely ban incandescent lamps, the replacement of light sources will be fully opened in 2014, and LED lamps are expected to gradually enter the lighting market, which has undoubtedly promoted the development of the LED lighting market.
China is also obsolete in eliminating incandescent lamps. As early as November 4, 2011, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce and other departments jointly issued the "Announcement on the gradual ban on the import and sale of ordinary lighting incandescent lamps." The "Announcement" clearly states that from November 1, 2011, according to the power level, five stages will be gradually banned from importing and selling ordinary lighting incandescent lamps.
According to the "Announcement", since October 1, 2014, China has banned the import and sale of ordinary lighting incandescent lamps of 60 watts or more; from October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2016, the mid-term evaluation period; October 1, 2016 It is forbidden to import and sell ordinary lighting incandescent lamps of 15 watts or more, or adjust them according to the results of the mid-term evaluation.
The demand for LED bulbs has dropped sharply. At present, alternative light sources such as bulbs and tubes are the most popular in the market. It is estimated that compared with 2013, the global LED bulb demand will increase by 86 in 2014, while the LED lamp demand growth rate will reach 89.
Insiders pointed out that due to the rapid decline in the price of LED lighting products, coupled with the stimulation of market demand, various manufacturers continue to introduce a variety of LED lighting products in order to be close to the price of traditional lighting products. Taking LED bulbs as an example, compared with 2012, the price of LED bulbs has slowed down significantly this year, and the price difference between different brands is gradually narrowing. The positive price strategy of the first-tier manufacturers is expected to bring about a considerable boost to the development of the LED lighting market, and the demand driven by price spurs will be further fermented in 2014.
In addition to the manufacturer's pricing strategy, the benchmarking and subsidy policies of various regional markets are of great help to improve the penetration rate of LED lighting. For example, there are still some regions in North America that continue to implement the EnergyStar subsidy program, and the price of subsidized lamps is more acceptable to consumers. In addition, the implementation of the incandescent lamp ban policy in various countries has also played a major role in promoting the development of the LED lighting market.
