Earthquake impact on Sichuan hydropower facilities may affect China's oil demand

After a strong earthquake in Sichuan Province in China last week, large domestic oil companies quickly organized the transfer of fuel oil to the province. However, the transportation needs of the region after the earthquake do not affect the country’s oil demand; the impact of the earthquake on the large hydropower facilities in the region may continue to affect domestic oil demand.
At present, this effect does not seem large: Sichuan accounts for one-eighth of China’s hydroelectric power, and quickly recovers to 80% of its pre-earthquake level after the earthquake, alleviating people’s anxiety about post-seismic power supply.
Sichuan is a large agricultural province. Its motor vehicle fuel consumption accounts for only about 3% of the national total. After the earthquake, the demand for oil in the region was only slightly increased due to search and rescue and disaster relief.
The rapid economic growth in China has often led to a tight supply of electricity, and its oil consumption has a close relationship with the power supply situation. The 2004 drought caused a reduction in the amount of hydroelectric power, which intensified the tight electricity supply in China and drove up the demand for diesel for power generation.
As the coastal areas of China are about to enter the peak period of electricity use, the impact of the earthquake on damage to Sichuan hydropower facilities remains unknown.
According to Qian Gangliang, senior engineer of China Hydropower Engineering Consulting Group, "The intensity of the earthquake has exceeded the designed seismic capacity of the dam in Sichuan Province. It is still too early to draw a final conclusion on the extent of the impact."
After the earthquake, Sichuan Province lost 4.4 million kilowatts of electricity, accounting for about 0.6% of the national total. The earthquake caused disruption of the transmission lines of 27 hydropower stations along the Lancang River, and there were several coal-fired power plants experiencing shortages of power coal.
In addition, aftershocks have led to landslides, and more than 30 barrier lakes have been formed so far, exacerbating the risk of secondary disasters. Experts warned that the rainy season is approaching and it is necessary to guard against the danger of dams.

Aluminum Micro channel Tube is a kind of extruded tube with lots of holes. It has good performance in heat exchange area.It is normally used in producing aluminum condensor. The key technic to produce Aluminum Micro channel Tube is the tooling. Trumony has its own tooling team.Which enables Aluminum Micro channel Tube continues quality and fast delivery. There are also plain surface Aluminum Micro channel Tube and Aluminum Micro channel Tube with surface Znic spray. Znic Spray will be better corrosion resistance. We have a list of ready tooling which enables our clients to choose and reduce their invention cost.Looking forward to your cooperation
