European Union Implements Tire Labeling to Accelerate the "Green Turnaround" of China's Tire Industry

Began to implement a mandatory tire label regulations in the European Union on the occasion, the domestic tire industry insiders in attendance Industry Development Forum held in Shanghai agreed that, as a global automotive tire manufacturing country, China's tire industry "green shift" will be further accelerated.

From November 1, 2012, the European Union enforces the mandatory tire labeling regulations, that is, car tires, light truck tires, truck tires, and bus tires sold in the European Union must be labeled to indicate the tire's rolling resistance, noise, and wet grip. Fertility level. Europe is the second largest overseas export market for Chinese tires.

Li Bowei, head of the Tire Research Institute of Shuangqin Group Co., Ltd., said at the “2012 China Green Tire Industry Development Forum” that the EU’s proposed label regulations will impose many restrictions on Chinese tire exports. How to avoid these restrictions? Stabilizing this market will be an important issue facing the Chinese tire industry. The Chinese market must produce higher quality products to participate in global competition.

Asian tire production and production capacity has always been one of the highest in the world, but only Japan and South Korea have introduced the relevant tire labeling method.

According to statistics, in the first half of 2012, the output of rubber tire tires nationwide reached 420 million, an increase of 8.22% year-on-year. Among them, the output of radial tires reached 207 million, accounting for 49.24% of the country's total output. In June, China produced 83,149,500 rubber tires, an increase of 18.97% over the same period last year. China's production of automobile tires is one third of the world's total, and export trade accounts for about 50% of the total.

Those attending the “2012 China Green Tire Industry Development Forum” shared the view that the Chinese automobile tire industry should first establish a mainstream labeling system as soon as possible and integrate it with the international labeling law; increase consumer awareness and allow them to consciously understand relevant products; The relevant testing standards should be formulated and revised as soon as possible to improve the quality of China's tire products; at the same time, relevant information on the formulation, revision, and release of relevant standards in other advanced countries should be collected in order to keep up with the latest international trends.

Fan Rende, president of the China Rubber Industry Association, pointed out in a recent industry conference that the industrialization of “green tires” is one of the most important tasks for the industry at present and in the future, and is also an important part of China’s rubber industry strategy. At present, tire companies, associations, and governments have all mentioned the industrialization of "green tires" to an important position.

At the forum, Minister of China Automotive Technology Center Hao Hai revealed that China’s development of industry standards for tire “greening” and related mandatory regulations is accelerating. At present, the Ministry of Public Credit has already referred to the issue of “green tires” and relevant aspects of the European Union. A roundtable meeting was held, and in principle, the project for tires was approved.

As a representative of the industry organization, China Tire Industry Association took the lead in organizing the formulation of self-discipline standards for “green tires” products. The standard will refer to the EU Tire Labeling Act and other series of regulations to calibrate the performance indicators of tires. Related detection methods, equipment and facilities are currently being actively improved and advanced.

According to the materials collected at the “2012 China Green Tire Industry Development Forum”, the Chinese tire industry promotes the industrialization of “green tires” in all directions from the aspects of products, raw materials, processes, technologies, and standard formulation. : At the end of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, 50% of companies can produce “green tires,” and 25% of companies’ “green tires” output exceeds ordinary radial tires.
