Bender Inc. celebrates 40 years of innovative electrical safety solutions
Bender Inc. is celebrating 40 years of growth and innovation since the establishment of its first U.S. subsidiary in Pennsylvania in 1983. This marked a pivotal moment for Bender GmbH, as it aimed to provide comprehensive electrical safety solutions across North America. The creation of Bender Inc. in Exton, PA, was more than just a regional office—it was a clear signal that Bender was committed to becoming a global leader in electrical safety technology.
Starting with just four employees, the company initially focused on healthcare applications. But as demand grew, Bender expanded into diverse sectors such as mining, maritime operations, power generation, and infrastructure. Over the decades, the company has built a reputation for delivering cutting-edge, reliable solutions that protect both people and equipment.
At the heart of Bender’s success is its culture of innovation. The company's products are designed to detect risks before they become critical, ensuring continuous power supply and minimizing downtime through proactive maintenance. This approach has made Bender a trusted name in industries where electrical safety is non-negotiable.
The U.S. market has always been a strategic priority for Bender. Today, with the rise of electric vehicles and green energy, new opportunities are emerging. Bender is at the forefront of developing technologies for EV charging infrastructure and electric transportation systems, positioning itself as a key player in the future of energy.
Throughout its 40-year journey, Bender Inc. has experienced major milestones, including product innovations and strategic acquisitions. In 1987, after losing a major client, the company launched Bender Medical Products to continue manufacturing isolated power panels. A decade later, in 1995, Bender acquired ISOTROL and Isolation Systems Products, strengthening its presence in the market.
In 1993, Bender introduced the EDS series, revolutionizing fault detection in unearthed systems. By 2003, the company had expanded its offerings to include monitoring systems for grounded power networks. These advancements reflected Bender’s ongoing commitment to evolving with industry needs.
In 2004, Bender expanded beyond traditional markets by entering the entertainment sector with Bender Entertainment Systems, providing GFCIs for movie productions. Later, in 2009, the company launched the ISOMETER® line for electric vehicles and developed the iso-F1 system for Formula 1 KERS technology, showcasing its versatility and forward-thinking approach.
Today, Bender Inc. operates from its headquarters in Exton, supported by a nationwide network of regional representatives and distributors. With over 1,200 employees worldwide, including more than 500 international staff, and a strong R&D team, Bender continues to lead in electrical safety innovation.
Walther Bender’s vision from 1939—to protect people and machines from electrical hazards—still drives the company today. Now managed by the third generation of the Bender family, the company remains focused on excellence, customer service, and setting global safety standards.
Looking ahead, Bender Inc. is excited about the future. With a mission to "lead the way to design the future of energy," the company is ready to continue driving progress, ensuring safety, and empowering industries wherever power is needed.
