Bender Inc. celebrates 40 years of innovative electrical safety solutions

Bender Inc. is celebrating 40 years of innovation and growth since its founding in 1983 as the first U.S. subsidiary of Bender GmbH, a German company dedicated to electrical safety. The establishment of Bender Inc. in Exton, Pennsylvania, marked a strategic move to meet the growing demand for reliable electrical safety solutions across North America. From the start, Bender Inc. focused on healthcare, but quickly expanded into other critical sectors such as mining, construction, maritime operations, and power generation. This broad approach allowed the company to become a key player in providing advanced safety technologies that protect both people and equipment. What sets Bender apart is its commitment to proactive solutions. Its systems detect electrical faults before they cause damage, reducing downtime and ensuring continuous operation. This philosophy has been central to the company’s success and reputation. Over the past four decades, Bender Inc. has grown significantly, expanding its product line and entering new markets. Notable milestones include the creation of Bender Medical Products in 1987 after losing a major client, the acquisition of ISOTROL in 1995, and the introduction of the EDS series in 1993, which revolutionized fault detection in unearthed systems. In 2003, Bender expanded its capabilities with monitoring systems for grounded power networks, and later ventured into the entertainment industry by offering GFCI rentals for film productions. The company also made a bold step into electric vehicles with the launch of the ISOMETER® line in 2009, followed by the iso-F1 system for Formula 1-KERS technology, showing its forward-thinking approach. Today, Bender Inc. operates from its headquarters in Exton, supported by a strong network of regional representatives and distributors across the U.S. The company continues to innovate, driven by a legacy that began in 1939 when Walter Bender created the first insulation monitoring device to protect miners from electrical hazards. With over 1,200 employees worldwide, including more than 500 international staff and a dedicated R&D team, Bender remains a global leader in electrical safety. Annual sales reach $220 million, with a presence in 14 countries and representation in over 70. At its core, Bender Inc. is guided by the same vision as its parent company: to lead the way in designing a safer, more efficient energy future. As it looks ahead, the company remains committed to innovation, customer focus, and setting new standards in electrical safety—wherever power is needed.
